What We Do: MAT Treatment, Counseling and Support

Substance use disorders are hard to treat because the brain has adapted to drugs or alcohol, which causes very difficult physical symptoms during recovery. We use Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to address these symptoms, helping to control cravings and lessen withdrawal effects. When combined with counseling and peer support, MAT offers a more effective path to recovery, setting the foundation for long-term success.

We provide virtual and in-person MAT and addiction treatment for:

Frequently Asked Questions

Massachusetts faces significant challenges with substance use disorders, with rates consistently higher than national averages:

  • Opioid-related overdoses occur at nearly twice the national rate
  • Young adult binge drinking is 45% higher than national averages
  • Illicit drug use affects a growing portion of our communities

However, Massachusetts also has one of the strongest healthcare systems in the country, with extensive treatment options available. At Eleanor Health, we combine evidence-based therapies with comprehensive support services to help you achieve lasting recovery. Our proven treatment methods and experienced care teams make recovery from addiction possible, regardless of where you are in your journey.

Different stages of recovery may require different levels of care. Addiction treatment facilities offer several options to match your specific needs and circumstances:

Inpatient treatment provides 24/7 medical care in a hospital setting, which is often necessary for drug and alcohol detox or when more intensive support is needed.

Residential treatment offers a structured living environment with full-time therapeutic programming for those who benefit from around-the-clock support.

As an outpatient treatment provider, Eleanor Health offers flexible care that works around your daily life, allowing you to maintain work and family commitments while receiving treatment.

While we specialize in outpatient services, we understand everyone’s journey is different. If you need a higher level of care first, we’ll help connect you with trusted providers who can support you through those early stages of recovery.

Your journey to recovery deserves a comprehensive treatment approach that’s as unique as you are. That’s why our interdisciplinary team combines evidence-based therapies with personalized treatment plans to help you heal and grow. Our treatment team works together to provide the tools you need, from individual counseling sessions that address your specific challenges to family therapy that helps rebuild and strengthen relationships. Whether you choose virtual or in-person care at our Massachusetts locations, you’ll have access to both individual therapy sessions and group support, creating a comprehensive care experience in a structured environment.

Co-occurring mental health disorders happen when someone experiences both a substance use disorder and mental health concerns at the same time. Research suggests that more than 40% of people with a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Common examples include:

  • Depression or anxiety alongside alcohol abuse
  • PTSD combined with substance abuse
  • Bipolar disorder with drug abuse
  • Attention deficit disorders with substance abuse

Co-occurring disorders often influence each other, which is why treating both simultaneously through our integrated approach leads to better outcomes. Many people find that addressing underlying mental health disorders is a crucial part of their recovery journey.

At Eleanor Health, we understand that your recovery process needs to work seamlessly with your daily life. That’s why we’ve created a unique approach that combines both virtual and in-person outpatient care. Your treatment team will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that offers the best of both worlds: the personal connection of face-to-face visits and the convenience of online sessions. This flexible approach not only enhances the quality of care but also makes treatment more accessible and affordable.

We believe in using proven, evidence-based therapeutic approaches that address the complex nature of addiction. Our comprehensive treatment program includes:

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Understanding and addressing past trauma in addiction treatment.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Learning to identify and manage triggers while developing healthy coping strategies.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Building skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Motivational Interviewing: Working with skilled therapists who help strengthen your commitment to change and personal growth.
  • Family Therapy: Healing relationships and creating a stronger support system for sustained recovery.
  • Holistic Therapies: Holistic approaches like art therapy and mindfulness practices support emotional healing and stress management.

This integrated care plan helps address both the immediate challenges of recovery and the underlying factors that contribute to substance use, setting a strong foundation for lasting change and long-term sobriety.

Medical detox is often a crucial first step in addiction recovery, providing supervised care during withdrawal from drugs or alcohol. Since withdrawal can be dangerous, clinical staff monitor patients 24/7 and may use FDA-approved medications to manage symptoms safely.

While we don’t provide medical detox programs or residential programs at our facility, our admissions team can help coordinate these services with trusted partners when needed. We work closely with local providers to ensure a smooth transition into our outpatient care once you’re ready.

Family therapy is a vital component of our outpatient treatment programs because addiction affects the entire family system. Through guided educational sessions, families learn to understand addiction, repair relationships, and create a supportive environment for recovery. We help identify and improve family dynamics that may impact recovery, while teaching practical skills that strengthen communication and trust in everyday life.

Our family counseling program helps both the person in recovery and their loved ones navigate the recovery journey together, leading to better outcomes and stronger support systems. We offer flexible scheduling options to ensure families can participate while managing other responsibilities.

Your first visit begins in a comfortable environment with a compassionate care team who will listen to your story without judgment. We’ll conduct a thorough assessment to understand your unique needs and create a personalized treatment plan. This initial consultation includes discussing your treatment options, insurance coverage, and any concerns you may have. Whether you choose online or in-person care, we ensure your experience is completely confidential.

Aftercare planning is essential because recovery continues long after initial treatment ends. A well-designed aftercare plan helps you maintain the progress you’ve made and navigate future challenges successfully. At Eleanor Health, we begin developing your aftercare strategy early in treatment, ensuring you have the support systems and resources needed for long-term success.

Your personalized aftercare plan includes:

  • Ongoing support through outpatient services
  • Relapse prevention strategies
  • Community resource connections
  • Alumni support programs
  • Regular check-ins with your care team

We believe that sustained recovery requires continued support, which is why we help you build a robust aftercare plan that fits your lifestyle and recovery goals.
