What We Do: MAT Treatment, Counseling and Support

Substance use disorders can be very challenging because the brain adapts to drugs or alcohol over time, and this comes with very real physical symptoms that need to be addressed just as much as the underlying causes of addiction. That’s why medication-assisted treatment (MAT) helps set the stage for lasting recovery. These medications ease cravings and reduce withdrawal symptoms, allowing you to focus on rebuilding your health. Combined with counseling and peer support, MAT increases the chances of a safer, more successful recovery. Our virtual program has access to everything you need to find a way forward.

We provide MAT and addiction treatment for:

Frequently Asked Questions

Louisiana faces one of the most severe addiction crises in the nation, with substance use disorders affecting hundreds of thousands of families and communities across the state. Recent statistics show:

  • Over 422,000 Louisianans (11.2% of the population) struggle with substance use disorders
  • The state’s overdose death rate has more than tripled since 2013, with 2,376 lives lost in 2022 alone
  • Synthetic opioids, particularly fentanyl, account for 70% of overdose deaths
  • Louisiana ranks second-worst nationally for addiction support and overdose prevention
  • Treatment access remains severely limited, with many parishes lacking adequate facilities

These alarming numbers highlight why accessible, evidence-based care is crucial. At Eleanor Health, we’re committed to addressing this urgent public health crisis by providing flexible treatment options that work with your schedule and circumstances. Whether you choose online or in-person care, our team is here to help you access the support you need in a state where treatment can mean the difference between life and death.

Different stages of recovery may require different levels of comprehensive care. Addiction treatment centers offer several options to match your specific needs and circumstances:

  • Inpatient Program: 24/7 medical care in a hospital setting for drug or alcohol detox and crisis stabilization.
  • Residential Program: Live-in treatment facilities with full-time therapeutic programming.
  • Outpatient Program: Treatment while living at home, with flexible scheduling around work and family.

While Eleanor Health specializes in outpatient care, we understand everyone’s journey is different. If you need a higher level of care first, we’ll help connect you with trusted providers who can support those early stages of recovery.

Our integrated treatment approach combines evidence-based therapies with whole-person care to support your recovery process. We offer:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for managing triggers
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation
  • Motivational Interviewing to strengthen recovery commitment
  • Specialized dual diagnosis treatment
  • Family therapy and support services
  • Group and individual therapy sessions

These therapies are available virtually across Louisiana, giving residents throughout the state flexible access to comprehensive care. Whether you’re in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, Lake Charles, or anywhere else in Louisiana, you can access the treatment approach that works best for you and your circumstances.

We consistently hear from our members that they are achieving their recovery goals. Plus, research strongly supports the effectiveness of virtual addiction treatment programs. A Yale study found that 67% of virtual therapy participants achieved remission from substance use disorder, compared to 43% in traditional outpatient settings. With the right care team and delivery model, virtual treatment can be as effective as, and sometimes more successful than, traditional in-person care.

Co-occurring mental health conditions, also known as dual diagnosis, happen when someone experiences both a substance use disorder and mental health challenges at the same time. Research suggests that more than 40% of people with a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Common examples include:

  • Depression or anxiety alongside alcohol abuse
  • PTSD combined with substance abuse
  • Bipolar disorder with drug abuse
  • Attention deficit disorders with substance abuse

These conditions often influence each other, which is why treating both simultaneously through our integrated approach leads to better outcomes. Many people find that addressing an underlying mental health disorder is a crucial part of their healing process.

Your first visit begins in a comfortable environment with a compassionate care team who will listen to your story without judgment. We’ll conduct a thorough assessment to understand your unique needs and create a personalized treatment plan. This initial consultation includes discussing your treatment options, insurance coverage, and any concerns you may have. Whether you choose online or in-person care, we ensure your experience is completely confidential.

While we don’t provide medical detox programs or residential treatment at our facility, our admissions team can help coordinate these services with trusted partners when needed. We work closely with local providers to ensure a smooth transition into our outpatient programs once you’re ready.

Family involvement strengthens long-term recovery. Our virtual family support includes:

  • Online family counseling sessions
  • Educational resources about addiction and recovery
  • Communication skills development
  • Support system building
  • Tools for creating a recovery-supportive home environment
  • Guidance for family members’ self-care
  • Crisis management strategies

Family members learn to effectively support their loved one’s journey to recovery while addressing their own needs through our secure virtual platform.
