Peer Support Services for Addiction Recovery

At Eleanor Health, our Community Recovery Partners (CRPs) have walked the path of recovery themselves, enabling them to provide compassionate support and guidance from a place of lived experience. Their first-hand knowledge and training equips them to empathize, motivate, and empower you on your journey towards healing.

What are Peer Support Services?

Peer support plays an important role in many people’s recovery journey. It provides a safe and judgment-free space to discuss your struggles with someone who has been through it before, and knows what you are dealing with. Peer support focuses on personal recovery, empowerment, and community support.

What is a Community Recovery Partner?

Community Recovery Partners (CRPs) are trained peer support specialists who have lived experience with addiction and mental health struggles. They offer support without judgment or expectations, and create a safe space to openly discuss your struggles, triumphs, and setbacks as you begin your recovery journey.

CRPs combine their personal experience with skills learned in formal training to help you navigate the system and develop a personalized plan for recovery.

Ready to Join a Peer Support Group?

We currently offer Peer Support All-Recovery Meetings for our members twice each week:

• Wednesdays at 12:00 PM ET

• Thursdays at 4:00 PM ET

(Availability may vary depending on your state.)

If you’re interested in joining a peer group or connecting one-on-one with a Peer Support Specialist, please reach out to Eleanor Health at (866) 465-0590 or online to learn more and confirm eligibility.

Here’s how a Community Recovery Partner can help you:

  • Recovery Planning: A CRP will help you establish personal goals and create a tailored treatment plan.
  • Validation and Support: You will have someone with first-hand knowledge of what you are going through by your side, providing judgment-free support and encouragement.
  • Mentoring: CRPs use their experience to help you overcome the challenges associated with recovery. They motivate you throughout the entire process.
  • Practical Help: A CRP can support you in accomplishing daily tasks you are struggling with. They can also provide advice on how to manage your symptoms and develop coping skills.
  • Knowledge and Information Sharing: Because CRPs have been through similar struggles, they have first-hand knowledge and insights of different treatment methods, coping strategies, and resources they can share with you.
  • Advocacy: Peer support specialists advocate for individuals in recovery. They help you navigate the  system, access resources and obtain basic necessities.
  • Community and Social Connection: Community is an important part of recovery. Your CRP can help you engage with your community in ways that promote positive social interaction and healthy relationships with people.

Benefits of Peer Support Services:

Studies have shown that peer support offers great benefits in all aspects of your recovery journey. It provides the practical guidance and empathy you need to overcome addiction challenges.

1. Reduced Symptoms & Hospitalizations

Peer support provides emotional support, coping strategies, and practical help. This can lead to shorter and less frequent hospital stays, which can be costly and disruptive to your daily life and recovery journey.

2. Improved Social Skills, Self-Esteem and Well-being

By working with a Community Recovery Partner, you will develop a greater sense of confidence and ability to manage daily life, as well as your social skills. This has a positive impact on your self-esteem and well-being, further encouraging recovery.

3. Greater Social and Community Support

Peer support services help individuals build connections with other people with similar experiences. Having a supportive network can help you gain a greater sense of belonging and reduce feelings of isolation you might be experiencing.

4. Improved Likelihood of Long-Lasting Recovery

Peer support can help individuals develop a deeper understanding of their mental health conditions and the strategies needed to manage them effectively. This can lead to more thorough and longer-lasting recoveries, as you  will be better equipped to manage your symptoms and maintain your well-being over time.

Alicia’s Story

“My greatest achievement this year has been keeping the promise to myself that I would remain sober during the week. That’s the biggest thing that I’m proud of.”
