Coronavirus Statement: Eleanor Health Remains Committed to Our Mission to Help People with Addiction Live Amazing Lives

Over the past week, the Eleanor Health team has been texting, emailing, and calling each other and our community members through the weekends and evenings. We’re helping each other navigate through this challenging time, and the extra communication has given us assurance. We’re in this together – providing a (virtual) hand to hold, taking deep breaths, and reminding each other that we care.

Our clinics in North Carolina – Mooresville, Hickory, High Point, and Durham – remain open during regular hours. We encourage our new and existing community members to consider virtual care via telehealth but will also be able to meet in person, and are taking extra precautions to do so.

What processes has Eleanor Health put in place?

Eleanor Health is ensuring our community members are supported during this time of uncertainty, and we are committed to continuing to meet the needs of our community members. We are:

• Encouraging the use of our virtual capabilities wherever feasible so that members in high-risk groups or with other concerns, do not have to come to the clinic to continue their care.

• Screening community members and members of our team before entering our clinics to ensure no one with COVID symptoms exposes those who are in the clinic.

• Adhering to enhanced levels of cleaning and disinfection in all of our clinics and waiting areas to reduce risk of spread via surfaces.

• Enforcing the recommended 6 foot distancing between our clinic team members and community members.

• Communicating more proactively with our new and future community members about the measures we are taking to continue providing addiction treatment services while keeping each other safe.

How does COVID-19 spread and what are the symptoms?

COVID-19 is primarily spread through respiratory droplets, which means to become infected, people generally must be within six feet of someone who is contagious and come into contact with these droplets. It may be possible for a person to contract COVID-19 by touching a surface or object with the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Symptoms of COVID-19 appear within two to 14 days after exposure and include:

• Fever

• Severe or worsening cough

• Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath
